The Restored Lives course in Cheadle runs in The Upper Room Cafe at St Mary’s and is led by Mark and Helen who have been trained to run the course locally. Guests come from Cheadle and the Greater Manchester area.
With their team, Helen and Mark host and support guests and empower them to move forward from the hurt of relationship breakdown. They aim to come alongside people with an attitude of love, to comfort and encourage them, and to give them hope that they can move on successfully.
A recent guest at this course wrote: ‘Thank you for building up my hope; crushing some of my fears; answering numerous questions; giving lots of practical advice and bringing me out of a dark tunnel into the light.’
Who is the course for?
The course is for anyone who is going through, or who has experienced a relationship breakdown. You can be at any stage in the process – you may have recently separated from a long term relationship or maybe you have been divorced for many years – the course is designed for you.
The materials that we cover are relevant for any relationship breakdown, whether a marriage, civil partnership, or cohabitation. It is for anyone where a committed relationship has ended, but the course is not suitable for couples who are in the process of trying to reconcile.
What to expect
The course runs on Tuesday evenings from 7.00 pm until 9.30 pm for eight weeks. Each week will begin with a light meal of soup and bread. Midway through the evening, there will be a break for drinks and cakes. The eighth week is a social to celebrate the end of the course.
The first seven sessions will include talks from the front, discussions in small groups and listening to the personal stories of volunteers. The small groups are an opportunity to discuss the ideas presented in the talks and if you chose to share your own experiences and struggles, they are led by people who have either been through divorce themselves or have been alongside someone who has. The setting is welcoming, relaxed and unthreatening.
