Run an adult course
Restored Lives is an eight-session course you can run to reduce the impact of separation and divorce in your community. Each session is a mixture of watching videos that explore different topics and then discussing them in small groups. If you can facilitate a small group discussion, you can run Restored Lives.
We provide all the materials and support you need. You don’t need to be an expert or a professional counsellor. The only thing you really need is a passion for helping people overcome what can be the biggest crisis of their lives in a compassionate and non-judgemental way.
There are 3 ways to run a course
Online with the central course
Many first-time leaders choose this option as a way to ease into setting up a course. It allows them to focus on their guests and the course content. They gain a deeper understanding of how to run the course whilst the central team handles all the administration and logistics. We run our central course online via zoom three times a year on a Monday evening between 7.00 and 9.30 pm. You can opt to lead a small group of guests from your local area as part of this course. Online courses are very accessible, we’ve received feedback from differently abled guests and parents who need childcare that the option to join online from home was the only thing that made attending possible. Running online may allow you to draw a more diverse group of guests from a wider area.
Online Independently
Take full control of organising your own online course, on a day of the week and time that suits you. We provide all the course content and structure and you handle the administration and logistics. Face to Face
Meeting people in person enables you to host and connect with guests in a more tangible way. We provide all the course content and structure you need to set up and run your own in-person course. Most of the resources are free to download although there is a charge for items like the guest workbooks and the course books. In-person courses benefit from all the small interactions between guests and volunteers, they allow you to create a welcoming environment and even offer a simple meal.

We provide lots of free resources:
Training
We run online training sessions for leaders and helpers three times a year. You can either join these sessions or run your own training session for yourself and your volunteers using our free training guide.
Content
Each session includes a video that explores different topics. Some sessions also have handouts that cover topics in more detail. All you need to do is play the video and pause when you see the on-screen prompt. Then use the conversation prompts in the leader’s guide to facilitate a discussion. If you would prefer to deliver the content in person you can use our speaking notes.
Leader’s Guide
We have comprehensive leader’s guides that explain in detail how to run each session including detailed timings and discussion prompts. If you prefer to deliver the content yourself we also provide speaker’s notes for all the talks.
Get Expert Help Session
We collaborate with some of the leading experts who work in the field of separation and divorce including counsellors, financial advisors, mediators, parenting specialists and life coaches. Three times a year we offer guests free, short. online one-to-one sessions with these experts. However you choose to run your course, your guests may join this session too.
Marketing Resources
We have lots of marketing resources you can use to promote your course. These are provided in digital format. Print-ready versions are also available if you want to print hard copies. We have lots of experience promoting the course and are happy to advise and make suggestions.
Additional Online Sessions
We also run optional additional sessions on specific topics three times a year including a session on separating from an abusive partner, a session exploring issues of faith and divorce and a session for men. (Who often receive less support when separating.) You can offer these sessions to your guests too.
