RDS Course Blog Contributor guidelines:
The purpose of the Blog on the Restored Lives course is to give a human face to the website and to give additional hints and tips that might aide people on their recovery. A Blog can raise issues that people most want to talk about and hear people’s feedback on them in addition to covering issues that aren’t fully discussed on the course.
A further benefit is that having a blog helps to drive additional traffic to the website and will improve our search engine ranking – making it easier for people to find the site.
If leaders, helpers or course past attendees have something they would like to contribute then that would be very much appreciated. In fact having different people’s perspective would be really helpful i.e. a father not living with his kids / a mother full-time with kids / people without kids / someone going through the legal process etc.
Below are a few guidelines to help:
- Blogs should be short – 2-5 paragraphs is perfect. If you find you have a lot more to say then you could always break a longer article into smaller blog posts.
- Each blog should just address one topic.
- The content of a blog post should relate to the RDS course or something you have found useful in your recovery. Did a friend give you some good advice that was really helpful? Have you discovered a new hobby that has helped you through? Have you started dating again – are there tips from this you could share?
- Posts should be polite and respectful (We want the blog to be as friendly and welcoming as the course).
- Each post should be your own original writing – we wouldn’t want to get in trouble for plagiarism!
- Honest and open is good.
- For the moment we will keep the Christian content in blogs to a minimal to try and interest everyone to the site.
